A School That’s Hard To Refuse

School is not synonymous with learning

Over time, and under the wrong circumstances, school can become untenable. This isn’t to say the child doesn’t want to learn, to the contrary. School refusers can be some of the most curious and enthusiastic leaners I’ve ever met. But not at school; at least not right now.

How I can help

I run an alternative educational facility called Home School, a home based EOTAS (education other than at school) environment where pupils can be based during a period of school refusal. Home School packages are bespoke, but may offer:

  • 1:1 tuition in line with the national curriculum for ages 9-19

  • 1:1 tuition in functional skills and many subjects to GCSE

  • bespoke intervention for language based learning difficulties

  • bespoke curriculum appropriate to your child’s needs rather than a mismatch between skills and age related expectations

  • management of a full cohort of specially sourced tutors

I work closely with a team of teachers and therapists to jointly provide an integrated service aimed at reengaging your child in education and creating a safe, low stress environment in which to begin again. I have limited places but a good success rate.

While I am not a therapist, I am not fazed by the behaviours which typically accompany school refusal. I do have a support team for exceptionally challenging behaviour which I will recommend if need be.

I am familiar with the process of producing, monitoring and reporting for EHC plans for Home School pupils. I have worked with several London boroughs.
