EPQ

The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) offers a fantastic route to academic success for neurodivergent young people

(and Universities love them!)

Around 50% of students will get an A* or an A in the EPQ

AQA 2022

In the absence of personal statements, it can be trickier for neurodivergent learners to shine on a University application - especially where predicted grades are lower than expected. The EPQ provides a chance for our kids to stand out, and many Russell Group Universities value them highly.

Why is the EPQ so great for neurodivergent learners?

  • Course work removes the time pressures of exam conditions, giving a young person time to think.

  • Each young person gets to choose their own topic, so the work isn’t boring

  • The success criteria depend largely on recording the process; the finished product is only 20% of the mark

How I can help

The EPQ can be hugely successful, with 50% of applicants receiving an A or A*. However some of the underlying skills needed to succeed with a long term, multi-faceted project don’t always come naturally to a neurodivergent child. These key supports can enable learners to achieve real success:

  • 1:1 bespoke tuition and support in research skills, writing and editing

  • 1:1 bespoke support for organisational skills

  • 1:1 bespoke support for time management skills

  • 1:1 tuition and support writing up the Q-Log

The EPQ was a game changer for Cassie - she gained so much academic confidence! Thank you!!! Serena, Chelsea
